For centuries we’ve paid obeisance
In clueless ignorance
In exchange for nickels and pennies
From the one who’s made us his dummies
Daily we prayed
For at least a saving grace
Either in the form of a giant
Or maybe a king, or even a tyrant
But clueless was she
With no hint
That she would bear Him
Our only grace
The mountains skipped, the oceans roared
With joy the Angels sang
Halleluyah
A king just touched down
Not in a palace to a great feast
Nor in a temple to the High priest
But in a Manger to a virgin miss
That we might know he came for the poor and rich.
He came for me He came for you
The creator living among His creation
That He might bring us back to Him
Whose love for us has no end
Halleluyah, the king is born
Heaven and Earth adore
Though men came bearing gifts
But He is God’s gift to man.
