ANCIENT LANDMARK: THE TRAIL
We have lost track.
Daily, cries ring in Ramah;
Fathers can no longer rest.
But as soon as Zion travails,
He shall give birth.
Then why are we not becoming like it?
Our fathers left a trail
During the course of their habitation
In this mortal realm.
In similitude to the rich man,
Who gave talents to his workers
As to their capacity,
They were rest assured that
To whom little is given, much is expected.
Sadly, we took another trail.
We’ve called it all sorts of names:
Seven Books of Moses are our formula,
Candles of different colors we use,
And a handkerchief now costs a million.
We claim to be who we are not.
Enough of this religious bigotry.
I wonder: is this the ancient landmark?
I opened to my beloved;
But my beloved withdrew herself,
And was gone.
My soul failed when he spake:
“I sought him, but I could not find him;
I called him, but he gave me no answer.”
Oh! Do I have to continue this way?
Return, return, O beloved!
Return that I may look upon you;
Return that I may behold thy face;
Return that I may behold the beauty of thy Holiness;
Return and let the essence
Of Christmas be made known unto me.
A trail is to be followed,
But a new breed is arising.
Systems are altered,
Protocols are broken,
For the Coronation of Jesus
To have its place.
All I see is light:
This is the Ancient Landmark!
This is the Trail!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year in advance
Adisa Samuel…
