SCRIBES AND PRIESTS

Our Father and our God, we thank you for the privilege and once again study under your mighty presence… Feed us, quenching our hunger and thirsts in Jesus name…Amen

EZRA 7:6 KJV: This Ezra went up from Babylon; and he was a ready scribe in the law of Moses, which the Lord God of Israel had given: and the king granted him all his request, according to the hand of the Lord his God upon him.

NIV this Ezra came up from Babylon. He was a teacher well versed in the Law of Moses, which the Lord, the God of Israel, had given. The king had granted him everything he asked, for the hand of the Lord his God was on him.

AMP: This Ezra went up from Babylon. He was a skilled scribe in the five books of Moses, which the Lord, the God of Israel, had given. And the king granted him all he asked, for the hand of the Lord his God was upon him.

Priestly Scribes are slightly different from Scribes who serve the courts of Kings. This is because while the Kingly Scribes deals with the affairs of the Kingdom as entrenched in the laws of the Land, and as discussed of the table of the Court…. Priestly Scribes tend to serve as Oracles of the Kingdom. They uphold the Sacredness of the law of the land and makes sure that the Kingdom not only function on the administrative strength alone but also that the Spiritual awareness of the Kingdom is payed attention to. One verse I’d like to enlarge is the 14th verse of Nehemiah 8, with more emphasis on the word “found

14. And they found written in the law which the LORD had commanded by Moses, that the children of Israel should dwell in booths in the feast of the seventh month:

It says that the people “found” in the law, what God required of them… But this founding was through the reading of the law to them by a Priest who knows the law and the ways of God by heart, and such who could relate to the writings of the land.
DISCOURSES:
1. Based on our understanding about Scribes, Discuss the relationship that exist between SCRIBES and PRIESTS.

2. SCRIBES are sometimes born priest or even walk in the priestly office; Yes or No? Discuss.

If you read through from verse 1 of Ezra 7 down to verse 5, you would see the genealogy of Ezra being a Son of the Levitical Tribe, and in verse 6, he us established to be a skilled, ready scribe and a teacher well versed in the Law of God….

And in Nehemiah 8:9-14 also, Ezra (vs9) was acknowledged as a priesteand a Scribe….

We must understand that “Priest” is the name used to address a person that is occupying the office called “Priesthood“,.. And at such a person can occupy this office and be saddled with other assignments. Such is the case of individuals of the Priestly Scribes. They were born of the Levitical tribe and taught in the ways of a Scribe.

As Kingdom Scribes of this generation, I appeal to us to know that: Many individuals would remain blind to the reality of the word of God, many would be ignorant of many things and will not “Find” light out of the darkness of this world, If we who are saddled with the responsibility of Alignment and knowing the commandment and ways of the Lord refuse to intimate them on such.

The reason you and I should write or teach people in the way(s) of the Lord is because we are like shepherds, the growth, the feeding, and the resources the Kingdom fold is exposed to is through us… We intercede and interpret the heart of the Father to the hearts of men… And this is why as Priestly Scribes, we work with any individual gifts of the Five hold ministry, making legible yet lively, the verbal words from the throne of God.
