Sweet Holy Spirit of God. We thank you for how far you have brought us and the marvelous illumination of light upon our soul. We pray that as we seek counsel in your bosom tonight, that you would not refrain from having us fed in Jesus name…. Amen.
I believe it has been an awesome time on this platform with the various discourse on the counsel of Solomon the preacher. Last two Thursdays we treated series 1 of it, and just last week, we had another Series 2 on the counsel of King Solomon; the preacher.
Ecclesiastes 10:16 Woe to thee, O land, when thy king is a child, and thy princes eat in the morning!
What crime is it to have a rightful heir on the throne? Not just an heir but a young one ? Or of what wrong can it be to have rich princes of noble birth take to feasting in the morning? Yet the preacher on account of experience and wisdom says “woe to you, O land!”
The only wrong of a land, such of which the preacher acclaims woe upon is the status of the King; “when your kings is a child”. But some would regardless of the age, a King is a King As true as this may seem,
Galatians 4:1-2
4:1 Now I say, That the heir, as long as he is a child, differeth nothing from a servant, though he be lord of all; 4:2 But is under tutors and governors until the time appointed of the father.
Makes us to understand that there is no difference between an heir who is a child and a slave. This is because the reasoning of a child differs and would remain as that of a child regardless of the position he finds himself. I.e. Kingship does not confer maturity on a child when installed a King. Kingship does not confer manhood, neither does it automatically transform a child’s reasoning — for the person and the office are two different entities.
1 Corinthians 13:11
When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.
This Scriptures gives us a vivid view of the status quo of a child — A child would speak, understand, think like a child and still embrace childish things.
On the strength of the covenant: _that wherever the sole of your feet shall step, I will give unto you._ It means it is not necessarily the land or being king over the Land that is wrong.
And our Royalty is entrenched in;
1 peter 2:9
2:9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light;
Which also legitimises whatever claim you and I have over all that be on earth and on land. This is one of the challenges in our days, many of us are in pursuit of the manifestations of God’s kingdom, as if that validates the supposed “level” of our spirituality. We neglect the place of internal working, the very position of God working and reshaping us into the characteristics of His son. What makes a child think, understand and speak as one is because, such mind that be in him is that of a child. But this, the scriptures encourages us in
Philippians 2:5
2:5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
That we should permit and give room for a kind of mind that does away with self and childish things — such mind that bothers only about himself. The scriptures encourages us to do away with these things. So if you agree with me that you are a King, then you would know that you are not permitted to be a child in growth; Spiritually and all round — for if you are; your semblance is of a servant.
And if you claim to be a king, the first validation to such claim is not necessarily the crown or the fact of being your right as an heir, BUT the status quo of your heart growth. Are you a child? Which Mind is in you?
This means as kings that we are our perception of life must change, for a King cannot only say I am king over this tribe alone and not the other tribe, for they are all of the same kingdom and he should judge all equally. If you are a king, a spirit being as such, you do not segregate or permit envy — you embrace under the banner of love.
Another perspective to the childhood nature of a king accursed by the preacher is seen in:
1 Corinthians 3:1-3
3:1 And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ.3:2 I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able. 3:3 For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men?
Apostle Paul equates carnality to Childishness — stating that there are individuals who are Christians and have given there lives to Christ by receiving Jesus as their saviour, but these ones are still “Babes” because they are being fed with milk and not solid food, these are them that still permit envy, strife and divisions. (And such in our days: Denominationalism) comparing churches with churches, preferring a denomination over another and refusing to see them for the ministry God has called them to. These ones are babes, children.
Ecclesiastes 10:16 Woe to thee, O land, when thy king is a child, and thy princes eat in the morning!
The second dimension of the scriptures speaks of PRINCES. Eating or Feasting in the Morning.
WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN WRONG WITH THIS….??
This is because princes or noble men in this context are the “principalities” of the Land, they are in charge of certain aspect of stronghold within the land. These princes do not have crowns to their head. But they are key to decisions of the land. And for them, the problem is not their position or stature: its their act. Feasting (Dinning and Wining ) for princes are things of the evening, after every matters of the state have been addressed in the morning. For the governance theory is such that believes the Morning is the active hours of the day where things that needs urgency are invested strength into. Now imagine if the custodians of the counsel of the lands, instead of deliberating, stoop to feasting ever morning. What would be the lot of the land..?
Then some would say the curse “woe” is to the land and not the king. Truly it is, but what kingdom establishes the kingship of a king without a Land ? The land is that are of influence where God has situated you and I. If you and I refuse to grow up and we remain a child, we will become disastrous to our areas of influence — And such area would be void of any growth or development. For the fate of the land (areas of life) is intertwined with that of the king (you and I ).
The princes here are those individuals God has placed in your life and in my life. People such as Mentors, Spiritual Fathers, Disciplers, Coverings and many more whom the Lord has put in place to counsel you and I towards God intention….. If they fail to be who they are in your life, if they fail to take up the position, or even face their own life alone. What would be your lot.???
That is why beyond demanding their prayer, take out time to pray for them. Beyond expectations, sow into their life. Let them not be the one to mandatorily love you for sake if the responsibility… You and I also need to reciprocate the love.
For everyone love feasting, when they then choose to be in gap for your destiny and mine. We must appreciate them for taking up such responsibility.
They are princes
They may not have the influence you have, or be privilege to be in the position you are; but they are Kingmakers… They can help make or mar you and I.
I will round up with the 17th verse of the chapter that speaks of the positivity of these two (kings and princes) assuming their position Rightly.
Ecclesiastes 10:17 Blessed art thou, O land, when thy king is the son of nobles, and thy princes eat in due season, for strength, and not for drunkenness!
I therefore encourage you Sir and ma to take out time soonest to appreciate. Those whom God has uses to forge you into you.
God bless us all.. Should there be contributions and questions, let us not hesitate to drop them
Question:
King Makers, how can they make or mar us?
Answer
On the fact that they are not just random persons, in our lives. They can make us when we choose to submit to their office of responsibility in our lives. And can be an hinderance to progress if we disrespect them or even insult their office regardless of our supposed influence… Through pride or arrogance.
